SMCC-The-Personal-Development-IIII-Document.pdf
The intent of our Personal Development curriculum is to equip pupils with a sound understanding of risk and with the knowledge & skills necessary to make the right decision at the right time and for the right reason. At SMCC our aim is to foster flourishing individuals who contribute positively to society.
We aim to deliver lessons which are accessible and relevant to all and to clarify misconceptions and expose myths within our subject area. The curriculum has been developed to provide a guiding set of traffic lights for students in order to help them navigate the difficult situations they will, encounter and improve their chances of making better decisions.
Our aim is to support students’ physical, social & mental development and to prepare and equip them for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of life. To provide students with a knowledge of their world, locally, nationally, and globally and give them confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that they face as they grow up. We aim to provide our students with opportunities to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society.
As a result of our PD programme, we hope that each of our students will understand more about how to play a positive and successful role within our society
