The science curriculum has been carefully designed with our cohort in mind to help them explore and answer questions related to the deepest mysteries of the universe. We aim to develop substantive and disciplinary knowledge allowing pupils to learn key concepts in detail and make connections with prior learning to build students' knowledge over time and to understand how scientists use models and experimental data to make conclusions to explain phenomena. It is only by understanding current ideas and discoveries that we can hypothesise new ones and use mathematical reasoning or experimental detail to test these hypotheses and develop new ideas.By doing this our students understand what it is to be a scientist or how these ideas may be used in careers that use this skills from engineering to finance. We recognise that along side knowledge our students need to have focused work to support with developing the science specific practical skills, with this in mind we have a bespoke working scientifically component that runs through key stage 3 to inspire and excite whilst teaching them the skills to use scientific equipment safely and accurately to competently test ideas and demonstrate portents.
